The Brazilian studio Animatório is a young studio, but already have some excellent works under its name. Brazil being a place with difficult access to grow with motion graphics (yes, even tho you guys know some Brazilian agencies, it’s a hard place), the people from Animatório has been doing a wonderful job and they are a name to be watched. They already received awards from Adobe and have been featured on STASH DVDs.

Directed by Aaron Rose, Beautiful Losers celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural movements of a generation. In the early 1990’s a loose-knit group of like minded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery … Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories…speaking to themes of what happens when the outside becomes “in” as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today’s youth.

You may have heard of Tom Muller, active on design portals for many years (currently CPLuv, prior to that NTMY, pixelsurgeon, threeoh, ventilate), but did you know he had a brother Tim Muller, who specialises in high-grade 3D design? How many other designer families are out there? Matt Pyke works with his brother Simon (Freeform) on many projects … there must be more.

Hand Circus aka Simon Oliver, an independent game developer, UI enthusiast and all-round projamming expert, has been slaving over a hot SDK to bring some quality content to Apple’s iphone/itouch mobile device. Rolando is a ‘physics/puzzler’ (phyzzler) in the mold of Katamari Damacy and Locoroco, except here the iphone’s unique interface is put to full use. Anyone who has worked on a Flash game will know the insane amount of time and planning that has to go into this sort of creative endeavor; all Simon asks for to help the project’s development is a little exposure in the form of a few Diggs, can you do any less?

With sadness this morning I read about the typographer/designer Robert Harling who passed away yesterday. The designer of Playbill and Tea Chest among other fonts he led a fascinating life including naval spying and inclusion as a character in The Spy Who Loved Me
If my life ends up half as interesting as his I shall be over the moon. |

Fantastic website filled with crisp content from Russian design agency
